San Pedro, Belize – Recommendations for the Number 1 Island in Belize

San Pedro is the tourism hub of Belize and one of the most stunning islands in the region. You can enjoy a wide range of attractions: snorkeling tours filled with sharks, sea turtles, and stingrays, panoramic beaches, and an exciting tropical atmosphere. The island also offers jet skiing, kite surfing, and a variety of other water sports activities.

Getting There

From Mexico:

  1. Direct ferry from Chetumal to San Pedro
    • Duration: about 1.5 hours
    • Passport stamping required before boarding and upon disembarking in San Pedro
    • Cost: 1300 Pesos
  2. Taxi from Chetumal to Corozal
    Cost: $50 USD per taxi, then several options:

    • Amazing short flight to San Pedro (small plane, sometimes possible to sit next to the pilot) – about 20 minutes, cost $70
    • Boat to San Pedro – about 2 hours, cost $30
    • Organized shuttle with Mohammad from Bacalar or Chetumal to Belize City, then ferry to San Pedro.
    • ADO bus from Cancun via Playa, Tulum, and Bacalar to Belize City, then ferry to San Pedro.

From Guatemala:

  1. Shuttle from Flores to Belize City
  2. Via Mohammad, about 5 hours, then a ferry to San Pedro for about 1.5 hours.
